Established in March 2017

Shanta Multiverse marks Shanta Holdings Limited entry into Bangladesh’s fast-growing F&B sector. It owns and operates The White Canary Café. The White Canary Café is a proud local success story, conceptualized by Ms. Mayesha Khondoker, daughter of Shanta Holdings Ltd.’s Managing Director, Mr. Khondoker Monir Uddin. Known for serving the finest specialty coffee in town, The White Canary Café is Bangladesh’s only café offering a North American-style all-day brunch menu. Since its founding in March 2017, the café has rapidly become one of Dhaka’s trendiest spots, building its reputation solely through word-of-mouth and a strong social media presence. The menu features North American-style waffles, pancakes, as well as other brunch items, alongside affordably priced gourmet sandwiches, Italian pastas, and freshly baked goods targeted towards office and school crowds. The café also offers an extensive collection of hot and cold signature beverages. The White Canary Café has expanded to five locations across Dhaka, Bangladesh.

MS. MAYESHA KHONDOKER, DIRECTOR

Ms. Khondoker currently serves as a Director of Shanta Holdings, where she is responsible for founding and overseeing the divisions Shanta Lifestyle and Shanta Multiverse. She also sits on the board for Shanta Life Insurance and Shanta Asset Management. As Managing Director of Shanta Multiverse and Founding Director of Shanta Lifestyle, Ms. Khondoker is responsible for developing the businesses' strategies, focusing on driving efficiency, team development, revenue growth, and business expansion. Prior to joining Shanta, Ms. Khondoker was the Head of Corporate Branding and Market Communications at Evercare Hospital Dhaka. She had the unique opportunity to develop her own business development department and pursue a digital transformation of the hospital and its marketing methods. Within a year, her team helped the hospital breakeven for the first time by monitoring and significantly improving patient satisfaction and patient/caregiver experience. Ms. Khondoker earned her MBA from The University of Warwick, during which she was awarded a Distinction by Warwick Business School. She was also a Change Maker scholarship recipient. Ms. Khondoker has a BCom from York University in Canada, where she was on the Dean’s Honor Roll and received the Dean’s scholarship.

MR. DEWAN M. SAJID AFZAL, CEO

Mr. Afzal successfully led and represented some of the top global brands in Bangladesh including Apple, Acer, BMW, Kohler and Microsoft. His key expertise in retail network building and enhancing customer experience through innovation helped him grow the footprints of these renowned global brands in the country. A career spanning 18 years, Mr. Afzal also worked for BRAC Bank and Radio Foorti in multiple management roles. He is also a BMW Group certified General Manager. Mr. Afzal is a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing, as well as a Bachelor of Laws with concentration in International Commercial and Contract Law.

As a part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Shanta Holdings Ltd. is the main founder and primary financier of the Center for Woman and Child Health (CWCH). It is a fully philanthropic non-profit hospital located in Beron, Ashulia right on the Tongi-Ashulia-EPZ bypass road. The hospital mostly treats poor mother and children of the locality.

The center runs and operates under a trust chaired by renowned national pediatrician Prof. Dr. M Q-K Talukder. Mr. Kondoker Monir Uddin, the Managing Director of Shanta, is a member of the Board of Trustees who acts as the chief advisor and counselor to the trust.

The center has been in operation since 2004, occupying a land area of 12 bighas with a current build up area of approximately 30,000 sft. It caters mainly outpatient services 24/7. There are 35 beds, an Operation Theatre and over 175 staffs with 70 physicians of various specialties including a number of senior consultants.
